Xmas Homework Challenge

Xmas HomeworkBlog
A brief pre-class interaction between two students instantly reminded me of a homework I was given a few years back in one of my advanced trainings. I actually almost interjected in this exchange, but then promptly closed my mouth to wait for when an opportune moment presents itself. And, as it always happens, it did, and with a perfect timing.

I guided the class through the few final moments of Savasana, and into our closing ritual. Once the eyes were open and Namaste’s exchanged, I said: “I have Xmas homework for you.”

As you can imagine, a pregnant pause ensued, followed by a few confused glances. Once I explained, Jan said, “You are a brat! But I am getting way better at it!” Then Gayle added, “THIS is a really great gift!”

Can you guess what this homework was all about?

Ok, I’ll give you a hint: if you think it is one of those fancy moves, you cannot be further away from the truth!

The homework was quite simple*, actually:

[bctt tweet=”Accept any and all help when it is offered to you.”]

Of course we all know that simple doesn’t mean easy.
And now that you know, are you willing to accept Xmas homework challenge?

*It isn’t that simple, either: excavated further, this piece of homework touches deep on our social conditioning, family traditions, as well as the study of mirror neurons and neurotransmitter (brain chemical) levels within social interactions

Hey, my name is Julia

Living with chronic pain has taught me to look for solutions in unlikely places –  places where most people see only problems.

Over the years I’ve gotten to be pretty good at this problem-solving and silver-lining finding thing.

So good that I felt compelled to share what I’ve learned and help others to find their sea legs while navigating, living, and winning their battle with chronic pain.
