Today’s is the first of a two-part answer to Marge’s question:
I’d like to know more things I can do at home.
Just maybe one stretch a week.
And/or one ball move.
Since this post is about yoga moves at home, home is exactly where we’ll start.
I’ve spent lots of years designing yoga programs for folk to do at home.
Can you guess the most common struggles that people complain about?
I bet you can!
They are:
I just can’t find the time.
I don’t seem to have any room in my house.
I’ve even heard,
I don’t have a free wall to do this with.
once or twice.
What if we fail-proof our budding yoga practice right from the start by addressing some of these most common challenges?
We’ll look at the time some other time… seriously, no pun intended!
The topic of time is way too vast to be addressed in quick-read post.
Let’s see our living space with a fresh set of eyes instead!
Take a look around your house (or office). What do you see?
Chairs, couches, tables, wall art…
Does the space around you encourage or discourage movement?
A simple way to increase movement is to signal “movement is OK here.”
How can you do that in your surroundings?
Have fun creating a physical container for your moves by designing a space that welcomes movement. More on the actual movement part next time!
Success tip:
Tweak your environment to support your goals.
This is especially important at times when you are depleted or unwell. It’s incredible how much our surroundings impact our behaviour, especially when we are fatigued.
